The hotel is located at the edge of the historical centre at the site of the former medieval town walls, part of which still exists in the so-called Executioner’s Gate (Katova branka), which was the only place where the master executioner could enter the town to perform his duties. The facility’s name, Hotel U Kata, is also derived from this. It is just a few minutes’ walk from a number of sites that have been included in the UNESCO register of cultural heritage due to their beauty (the Italian Court, Saint Barbara’s Cathedral, the Jesuit College, the Little Castle and others).
